Mess - fresh, young jazz music from Sweden

Drummer and composer Johan Björklund has put together a band of
young, uncompromising and brave top-of-the-line improvisers from
Gothenburg. With influences from a wide range of musical styles, such as
jazz, heavy metal, free form and ethnic music, Björklund creates a unique
musical world. Since the beginning in 1998, the band has toured
extensively and has been established as a live-act beyond the usual.

Since their first album "I manegen" (2002), the line-up has changed with
guitar player extraordinaire Thomas Gunillasson joining the group as a
replacement for keyboards. The trumpet player Klas Nilsson is also a new, fresh voice in the band.
Original members Lisen Rylander (reeds), Andreas Hall (reeds) and almost
original member Thomas Markusson (doublebass) has, of course, had a
great impact on the development of the band and the music in the past
and they all take a big step forward on this production.

Spring 2007 sees a quite new line-up and the band gets ready for the
third album...watch out!

Tours in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Norway.
Receiver of several grants and awards, for example the prestigious "Stim-stipendiet" in 2001.

Klas Nilsson - trumpet (b.1968)
Freelance musician with several jazz-& latin groups, among others:
Calvero, Son Entero, Timba Odara, Orca and many more.

Joakim Rolandsson - saxophone (b.1973)
Leader of Daisy, has played with Magnus Nyström Band, Bohuslän
Big Band, Lina Nyberg etc.

Andreas Hall-saxophone (b.1970)
Leader of several own projects and has worked with Rune Gustafsson,
Benny Engels, Gilbert Holmström, Mobile Mama Jazzband.

Johannes Lundberg - bass (b.1971)
One of Gothenburg's most in demand bassplayers.
Leader of Splint! and a sideman in a large number of bands like:
Priming Orchestra, Magnus Nyström trio, Turbulence etc.

Thomas Gunillasson - guitar (b.1972)
Amazing soundartist that also can be found in interesting acts like
HOW!, Lawn Penguin, Militanta Jazzmusiker, Brownouts and the Dorasteins.
